Why Laser
The Science
Hemoglobin in blood absorbs light at specific wavelengths. The vascular laser delivers a longer pulse of heat that reaches the vessel wall and seals it, and IPL's shorter filters target the fine, diffuse redness near the surface. Your provider chooses by the size and depth of what we're treating.
For cherry angiomas, a small template with a cutout sits over each spot so the light reaches only the lesion. It's a technique recommended by Dr. Sneed, and it keeps the surrounding skin out of the treatment entirely.

What to Expect
Step 1
A complimentary visit with your laser provider. We review your goals, skin, and health history, choose the handpiece and area, and you leave with a plan, a price, and a date.
Step 2
Keep the area out of the sun and skip self-tanner for 2 weeks before. Arrive with clean skin and no makeup on the treatment area.
Step 3
Eye shields on, and your provider works vessel by vessel or across the full face, depending on your plan. Each pulse is a warm pinch.
Step 4
Treated vessels look pink or slightly darker, then fade over the following days. Daily SPF, no hot yoga or saunas for a couple of days. Your provider schedules any second session based on your response.
Safety and Skin Tone
The vascular laser's wavelength passes through skin pigment with less absorption than shorter ones, which makes it the safer vascular option across skin tones. Settings are approved by Dr. Sneed for each skin type, a test spot comes before the first full treatment, and your provider chooses between the vascular laser and IPL based on your skin and the vessel.
Two weeks of sun avoidance before each session matters here as much as anywhere else, and we'll ask about it every time.
