How It Works
Each handpiece sends light at a specific wavelength into the skin. That light is absorbed by one target. That target may be melanin in a follicle, pigment in a spot, hemoglobin in a vessel, tattoo ink, or water in the skin. The target heats and changes while surrounding tissue is left alone.
The IPL handpiece has four filters for photofacials and hair reduction on lighter skin. The 810 nm diode handles hair removal. The 2940 nm Er:YAG does ablative resurfacing. The Q-switched Nd:YAG at 1064 and 532 nm treats tattoos and pigmented lesions. The long-pulse Nd:YAG at 1064 nm treats vessels and removes hair on darker skin. One platform covers all five, so the right wavelength is always in the room.
The Spectrum platform has no consumables, which supports fair, transparent pricing once the service launches. Every treatment is planned and performed by Brittany Cantu, AME, who leads our laser program with 20+ years of laser experience, and by Sami and Dani, both fully laser-certified, under Medical Director Dr. David L. What to Expect
Step 1
We review your goals, skin tone, medications, and recent sun exposure. This is where we match you to a handpiece and a realistic plan.
Step 2
For darker or recently tanned skin, and for resurfacing, we treat a small area first and check how it responds before a full session.
Step 3
Your laser team sets the wavelength, pulse, and cooling for your skin. Appointments range from a few minutes to about an hour depending on the service and area.
Step 4
Daily sunscreen is required after every laser service. We give written aftercare and schedule your next session at the right interval.
Safety and Skin Tone
Melanin in the skin absorbs laser light too, so darker skin tones need the right wavelength and a test spot. The long-pulse Nd:YAG at 1064 nm is the safer choice for hair removal on deep skin tones. IPL and the 810 nm diode suit lighter to medium tones. We assess this in person, never from a photo.
Avoid tanning and self-tanner for two weeks before any laser treatment. Tell us about photosensitizing medications, recent acne medications, pregnancy, or a history of keloid scarring. The Er:YAG resurfacing handpiece has real downtime, so we walk you through recovery before you commit.
