Quick Answer
An IPL photofacial uses filtered broad-spectrum light to fade brown spots and redness across the whole face. Our Rohrer Spectrum IPL handpiece carries four filters, each tuned to pigment, vessels, rosacea flushing, or acne. The service launches October 2026 at our South Lamar (78704) med spa, performed by our fully laser-certified team, led by Brittany Cantu, AME, under Medical Director Dr. David L. Sneed, MD. Pricing is published at launch, so text 737-321-8182 to join the laser waitlist or book a laser consultation.

What you notice
Freckling and flat brown patches on the cheeks, forehead, chest, or hands after years of Texas sun.
What the treatment does
The pigment filter heats melanin in each spot. Spots darken for a few days, then flake away.
Patients with light to medium skin tones and distinct spots on an otherwise even complexion.
What you notice
A pink or ruddy tone across the cheeks and nose, or fine red lines that makeup covers but never fixes.
What the treatment does
The vascular filter targets hemoglobin so small vessels close and the body clears them.
Patients with diffuse redness, sun-related vessels, or a flushed look that lingers.
What you notice
Heat, flushing, and persistent redness that flares with sun, wine, or stress.
What the treatment does
IPL calms the vessel network that drives flushing. A series reduces baseline redness and the intensity of flares.
Patients with rosacea who already manage triggers and want a treatment that reduces visible redness.
What you notice
Ongoing breakouts and the red marks they leave behind.
What the treatment does
The acne filter targets the bacteria and inflammation behind breakouts and helps fade lingering red marks.
Patients with active mild to moderate acne who want an option alongside skincare.

Whole-Face Light
The Science
IPL stands for intense pulsed light. Unlike a single-wavelength laser, the IPL handpiece releases a broad band of light, and a filter narrows that band to the target. Pigment, hemoglobin, and acne-related bacteria each absorb a different part of the spectrum.
The Rohrer Spectrum IPL handpiece has four filters. One is tuned to sun spots and brown spots, and one to redness and broken capillaries. One targets rosacea flushing and acne, and one handles hair reduction on lighter skin. Your laser team selects the filter for your concern and can switch during a session.
IPL is non-ablative, so the skin surface stays intact. Treated spots darken and flake over about a week, and redness fades over a few sessions. A series of 3 to 5 sessions spaced about 4 weeks apart is typical, followed by occasional maintenance.

What to Expect
Step 1
We look at your spots, redness, and skin tone, review medications and sun exposure, and confirm IPL is the right tool. AI skin analysis can show pigment and vessel maps below the surface.
Step 2
For medium skin tones or any recent sun, we treat a small patch first and check the response.
Step 3
A cool gel goes on, and the handpiece delivers a series of bright flashes across the treatment area. Each flash feels like a quick warm snap. A full face takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
Step 4
Expect mild redness for a few hours and darkened spots that flake within about a week. Use daily sunscreen and skip tanning. Your next session is booked about 4 weeks out.
Safety and Skin Tone
IPL light is absorbed by melanin, so it suits light to medium skin tones and untanned skin. On darker skin tones, IPL can cause unwanted darkening or lightening, so we recommend a different handpiece or a different treatment after your assessment. Melasma can worsen with heat, so we review it carefully before treating pigment.
Avoid tanning, sun tanning, and self-tanner for two weeks before each session. Tell us about photosensitizing medications, recent acne medications, or pregnancy. Downtime is limited to mild redness and a few days of darker, flaking spots.
Laser treatments are performed by Brittany Cantu, AME, our lead laser provider with 20+ years of laser treatment experience and results, alongside Sami and Dani, who both hold full laser certifications. Every treatment is overseen by Medical Director Dr. David L. Sneed, MD.
