The Science
The erbium laser is absorbed almost entirely by water, and skin is mostly water. Each pulse vaporizes a precise, thin layer of the surface with very little heat spreading into the tissue around it. That precision is why erbium is known for a cleaner recovery than older ablative lasers.
Below the surface, the controlled injury signals fibroblasts to build new collagen. The surface heals in days as fresh skin replaces what was removed, while the collagen remodeling continues for months, which is when lines and texture keep improving.

Step 1
A complimentary visit with your laser provider. We review your goals, skin, and health history, choose the handpiece and area, and you leave with a plan, a price, and a date.
Step 2
Keep your skin out of the sun and skip self-tanner for 2 weeks. Pause retinol, retinoids, and exfoliating acids for 7 days. Clear your calendar for a quiet few days afterward: stock the fridge and set up the couch.
Step 3
Compounded numbing goes on first. Then the laser pass, with eye shields on and a stress ball in hand if you want one. Then a sterile saline rinse, a cooling biocellulose mask, and barrier repair ointment.
