Quick Answer
Trap Tox (trapezius Botox, or “Barbie Botox”) is Botox or Dysport injected into the trapezius muscle to relieve chronic shoulder and neck tension, ease tension headaches, and create a longer, more sculpted neckline. At Banyan & Bamboo in Austin, it's performed by Brittany Cantu, AME (21+ years) under Dr. David L. Sneed, MD, with per-unit pricing and HSA/FSA accepted for medical indications.
What It Is
Your trapezius is the broad muscle that runs from the base of your skull, across the tops of your shoulders, and down your upper back. When it's chronically overworked — from desk posture, stress, heavy training, or simply carrying your tension up high — it stays contracted, which drives shoulder tightness, neck stiffness, and headaches, and can build a bulky, elevated shoulder line.
Trap Tox relaxes that muscle with precisely placed Botox or Dysport. It does two things at once: it releases the chronic tension (real, physical relief), and — as the muscle softens — it visually lengthens the neck and sculpts the shoulder line. That aesthetic result is why the treatment went viral as “Barbie Botox.” Most clients come for one benefit and are happy to get both.
Why Clients Book It
Relaxes a chronically tight, overworked trapezius — the desk-and-stress tension so many people carry in their upper back and shoulders.
When tight traps are driving headaches that start at the base of the skull, relaxing the muscle can reduce their frequency and intensity.
Softening a bulky or raised shoulder line visually lengthens the neck and sculpts the shoulder silhouette — the look behind “Barbie Botox.”
A favorite of two groups: people who live with shoulder tension at a desk, and gym-goers whose traps have overdeveloped. We dose to your goals.
Watch the Treatment
Watch Brittany Cantu perform a Trap Tox treatment — where the injections go, what to expect during and after, and how relaxing the trapezius relieves tension while refining the shoulder line. This is exactly what your appointment looks like.
Units, Cost & Timing
Dosing depends on the size and strength of your trapezius and your goals. We assess in person and start conservatively.
Priced per unit, so you only pay for what your muscles need. You get an exact count and price before we begin.
Relief settles over about two weeks. With repeat treatment, the muscle often calms down and needs less over time.
Payment Options
When Trap Tox is treating a medical concern — chronic neck and shoulder pain or tension headaches — it can be an eligible medical expense. You can pay directly with your HSA or FSA card at checkout, using pre-tax healthcare dollars. We're one of the few Austin med spas set up to accept HSA and FSA cards directly — many can't.
Purely cosmetic “Barbie Botox” for shoulder slimming is not eligible. We'll provide an itemized receipt for your records — check your specific plan for coverage details.
